A country does not change
all at once.

This timeline argues that fascism is on the rise through Germany’s governing establishment and state institutions—not through the AfD. Its focus is concentrated power, the treatment of political opposition, and the narrowing of legitimate dissent.

Alongside that warning runs a second theme: irrational ideology taking precedence over evidence, practical limits, and individual choice. Some chapters concern policy failures, broken promises, or symbolic decisions. They are not presented as acts of fascism in themselves.

Fascism, authoritarianism, and bad policy are not interchangeable labels. The overall diagnosis is an editorial judgment. The sources establish particular events; each chapter separates the record from the interpretation.

The fault lines.
